The Person Behind the Words

I’ve had this blog for a couple of years now…

Somewhere along the way, I lost my voice

In that time, I’ve constantly been thinking of ways to engage readers and build an audience. But I feel like I’ve missed the point entirely. I started writing for several reasons: I’ve always loved writing. It’s one of the few things that has felt natural to me throughout my life. I wanted to share my experiences, reflections, and what I’ve learned in my walk with God. My hope was that someone out there might relate to my story, find encouragement in it, and together we would feel less alone.

Somewhere along the way, I realised I haven’t accomplished that. I’ve posted a lot, not very consistently, but there are a lot of posts on here, and I keep forgetting what I’ve written. From where I started, the blog has evolved and changed, and while the goal has certainly been to write easy-to-read, educational and reflective pieces, there is something missing, and it’s me. Somewhere in all of it, I’ve chosen to take myself out of my writing, intentionally or not. For a blog that began with wanting to share my studies and experiences, it is very much lacking in that, and even writing this feels empty to me.

Bringing the person back into the writing

I want to bring myself back into my writing and share my experiences. I want these posts to be more than informative; I want them to feel human. A lot of what I share on here is what I’m learning, and I still have a lot to learn.

I suppose what I’m really trying to say is that there’s a real person behind these words, and at times that person feels unseen. Maybe you feel unseen too. And I want to keep writing the way I have been, but I also want to get more personal too. So let me know what you’d like to read about and if there’s anything you’d like to know about me.

Choosing vulnerability

It’s not easy for me to share on the internet; it feels very vulnerable, and that’s probably why I’ve skirted around it for so long, only giving the bare minimum if I even did that.

Life is meant to be lived, and I don’t want to simply drift through it feeling like a spectator in my own story. I may not be sure how to get out of that mindset, but I know I want to try.

Maybe sharing more of my journey won’t change the world, but if it helps even one person feel seen, understood, or less alone, it will be worth it. Thank you for being here, for reading these words, and for walking alongside me as I learn to show up more honestly on this little corner of the internet.

I’d love to hear more from you: what kind of posts would you like to see more of, and what topics resonate most with your own journey? And if you’ve ever struggled with feeling unseen, I’d love to know how God has met you in those moments.
